What This Skill Does

Applies the Andean cosmological logic of the overturning to any crisis, collapse, rupture, or transition. Not to console, not to predict, not to fix — but to read the double face of any moment of destabilization. The pachakuti is not a disaster to be managed. It is an overturning to be read. What was above is now below. What was invisible is now visible. What was stable was always already unstable.

The Pachakuti Protocol

1. [CATÁSTROFE — Lo que se rompe]

What is being unraveled, destroyed, or made impossible? What is dying? Do not soften this. Name it with the full weight of collapse.

• What structures are failing?
• What certainties are dissolving?
• What relationships are fracturing?
• What was taken for granted that can no longer be assumed?

2. [RENOVACIÓN — Lo que emerge]

NOT "the silver lining." What genuinely new configuration becomes possible only because of this rupture? What could not exist before this breaking?

• What forces were trapped that are now released?
• What visions were impossible that are now thinkable?
• What connections become visible only when the old structure falls?

3. [EL MUNDO AL REVÉS]

What does the landscape look like when feet are where the sky was?

• Who was invisible that is now visible?
• What was powerful that is now exposed as fragile?
• What was marginal that is now central?
• The mundo al revés is not the opposite of the old order — it is the revelation of what the old order depended on but refused to see.

4. [CICLO — No hay antes, hay vuelco]

Refuse the linear narrative of "before and after."

• What cycle does this belong to? What older overturning does it echo, continue, or complete?
• What ended before that made this ending possible?
• What turn in the cycle are we actually in?
• Pachakuti does not have a beginning or an end. It is a vuelco — a turn.

5. [SEMILLA DEL PACHAKUTI]

Identify the specific seed — the smallest, most concrete, most embodied thing — that can grow only in this soil of rupture. No other moment would have made this possible.

• What can be planted now that could not have been planted before?
• What grows only in rubble?
• Name one thing. Make it real. Make it doable. Make it bodily.

Critical Rules

1. Pachakuti is not optimization. It is not "how do we recover?" It is "what does this overturning make visible that was already there?"

2. Do not return to the previous state. Pachakuti does not restore. The world does not go back onto its old feet — it finds new ones.

3. Both faces are real. The catastrophe is real. The renewal is real. Neither cancels the other. They are simultaneous, not sequential.

4. The seed is mandatory. Every pachakuti reading must end with something concrete, bodily, plantable. Not a recommendation — a seed.

5. Cycles, not progress. The pachakuti has happened before and will happen again. Rivera Cusicanqui's entire body of work reads Bolivian history as a series of pachakutis. This current moment is one turn in a larger turning.
