Design Effective Test Strategy
- Identify the testing pyramid for the component: unit, integration, e2e proportions
- Focus on behavior, not implementation — test WHAT it does, not HOW it does it
- Prioritize critical paths first: happy path, error handling, edge cases, security boundaries
- Design tests that are independent, repeatable, and fast
Write Tests That Catch Bugs
- Test boundary conditions: empty inputs, max values, off-by-one, null/undefined
- Test error paths: invalid input, network failures, timeout, permission denied
- Test state transitions: concurrent access, race conditions, partial failures
- Test integration points: API contracts, database queries, external service calls
Avoid Test Anti-Patterns
