| description | Proofread text for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and clarity without changing the author's voice. Use when someone asks to proofread, copy-edit, check, or clean up a piece of writing. |
Proofread
Correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and obvious clarity issues in the supplied text while preserving the author's voice, meaning, and register. Do not rewrite for style or restructure ideas — that is a separate task.
Steps
- If no text was provided, ask the user to paste the text (and note the target spelling convention, e.g. British or American English).
- Read the whole passage first to understand intent before editing.
- Fix only:
- Spelling and typos
- Grammar and agreement
- Punctuation and capitalisation
- Clear, unambiguous wording errors
- Leave deliberate stylistic choices, jargon, and the author's tone alone.
Output
Return two parts:
- Corrected text — the full passage, ready to copy.
- Changes — a short bulleted list of what you changed and why (group trivial fixes; explain anything non-obvious).
Default to British English unless the text or user indicates otherwise. If a "correction" is genuinely a judgement call, flag it rather than silently applying it.
