Influencer Outreach

Identify and reach out to micro-influencers and creators for collaboration opportunities. The goal is authentic partnerships with people whose audience overlaps with the brand's target market.

Purpose

Paid ads are getting more expensive. Organic reach is declining. Creator partnerships are the last scalable organic channel — but only if outreach is personal, value-first, and founder-approved.

When to Use

• Building a creator shortlist for the quarter
• Product launch needs amplification
• Existing customers include creators who could be partners
• Competitor launched a successful influencer campaign

Procedure

1. Build the target list:

   • Mine existing followers and engaged commenters
   • Search by niche hashtags and topics
   • Check who shares competitors' content
   • Prioritize: audience overlap > engagement quality > follower count

2. Evaluate each candidate:

   • Audience demographics match?
   • Engagement rate >2%?
   • Content quality brand-worthy?
   • Natural alignment with what the brand does?

3. Build ranked shortlist (10-20 targets) with tier, contact method, personal angle.

4. Draft personalized outreach:

   • Reference SPECIFIC content they created
   • Explain why partnership makes sense
   • Clear offer: what brand provides, what creator provides
   • Soft ask: "Would you be open to exploring this?"

5. Founder approval required before ANY outreach sent.

6. Track pipeline: Contacted → Replied → Negotiating → Confirmed → Content live → Performance.

Done Criteria

The skill is complete when:

1. 10-20 targets are identified and ranked
2. Each top-priority target has a personalized outreach draft
3. The offer is clearly stated (what brand gives, what creator gives)
4. Founder has approved all outreach before sending
5. Pipeline tracking is set up

Pitfalls

• Spraying 100 creators with the same generic DM
• Looking only at follower count (5K with 8% engagement > 100K with 0.5%)
• Making the offer about what brand wants, not what creator gets
• Pitching a creator who just did a deal with a competitor
• Following up more than once after no response

Verification

For each outreach draft: if you were this creator, would you reply? Does it feel specific or templated? Is the founder okay with every offer?
