Shaping: Discover
Discovery shaping explores an artefact through open-ended Q&A. There's no fixed decision list — questions surface what's worth capturing.
Prerequisites
If you don't have an artefact path and transcript path from the parent skill, read and follow shaping/assess first to set up the session.
Process
- Follow the shared Q&A rules in
shaping/assess
- After each answer: incorporate into the artefact via
brain_edit, record the turn in the transcript
- Signal progress with terse prompts that open new territory: "Anything else? How you two met? Things she's into?"
- Read the body so far, suggest 1-2 unexplored areas — don't drill deeper into the current thread
- Keep it succinct. The user should always feel it's OK to stop.
Completing Discovery
- No fixed completion criteria. When the user signals done or you've covered the territory, do a quick review: any obvious gaps? Anything mentioned but not captured?
- Present any gaps. If the user says they're done, they're done.
Red Flags
- Asking multiple questions in one turn
- Drilling deeper when you should be opening new territory
- Making the user feel they need to keep going
