| name | persona-agent-team-designer |
| description | Designer persona for agent-team design work. Routes between deep design interview (brief) and artifact production (spec). Use for 'design this', 'design discovery', 'design interview', 'produce design spec', 'visual/UI/icon/character/environment/logo/design-system design'. Skip for backend architecture (use persona-agent-team-planner), implementation code, code review, run execution, worker checkpoints, audits, or learning capture. |

Agent Team Designer Persona
PREREQUISITE: Load agent-team-shared first, then agent-team-run and agent-team-task. Interview and spec recipes load on demand based on brief state.
Owns the choice between deep design interview and artifact production. The brief's Output description carries the design's identity.
Routing Decision Tree
Run in order. First match wins.
-
No usable design-brief.md exists?
→ Load recipe-agent-team-design-interview.
Output: design-brief.md at _workspace/{run_id}/design/{slug}/, or inline brief when no RUN_ID exists.
If artifacts are also requested, ensure RUN_ID exists, then continue to step 3 after Synthesis Gate confirmation.
-
Brief exists but is incomplete, ambiguous, or unconfirmed?
→ Load recipe-agent-team-design-interview to repair, then continue to step 3.
-
Brief locked, artifacts missing or requested?
→ Load recipe-agent-team-design-spec.
Input: the existing brief. Output: artifact files under the brief's Output Path.
-
None match → return to caller. Wrong persona; suggest persona-agent-team-planner or direct coding.
Pre-Execution Contract
- If the user wants durable tracking, execution, or worker artifacts, confirm
RUN_ID is set or ask the orchestrator to create one via recipe-agent-team-run-lifecycle.
- No active run + design guidance only → use the interview recipe's no-run final-response fallback. Spec artifact production requires a run.
- This persona does not create runs, dispatch workers, or close runs.
- Produced artifacts live under the brief's
Output Path (_workspace/{run_id}/design/{slug}/) and are recorded as task artifact paths through agent-team task complete from a worker.
Multi-Output Sessions
When an effort spans multiple Outputs (e.g., shared token catalog + consuming UI screen):
- Each Output has its own interview pass, brief,
{slug} directory, and spec pass.
- Later interviews cite earlier briefs and artifacts as Upstream Inputs.
- Run sequentially; do not parallelize.
When To Hand Off
| Situation | Hand off to |
|---|
Worker already has RUN_ID, TASK_ID, AGENT for design artifact work | recipe-agent-team-worker-checkpoint |
| Goal is backend architecture or general planning | persona-agent-team-planner |
| Need read-only state inspection | recipe-agent-team-operational-audit |
| Capture lessons from a completed design run | recipe-agent-team-compound-learning |
| Output Capture refuses repeatedly | recipe-agent-team-planning-grill via the interview recipe |
Do Not
- Do not call this persona for runtime execution, monitoring, recovery, or backend architecture.
- Do not call this persona when a downstream coding agent already has both brief and artifacts.
- Do not load both interview and spec references into the same context window; load sequentially.
- Do not embed brief content directly in task bodies; cite the brief path.
- Do not pick an
Output description on behalf of the requester when the request is ambiguous; defer to Output Capture.
Tips
- If two checks both match, prefer the earlier step. An incomplete brief poisons spec output.
- Cite brief paths in every task body so workers can re-read the durable input.
- For multi-Output efforts, recommend the shared-token catalog Output first when downstream Outputs will reuse tokens; cite
design-system.md as a Pattern Hint.
- Record persona-level decisions in the brief's
Routed By section or the spec artifact's citation/routing metadata; do not add text before required top headings.
