Natal Chart Reading

You have received raw chart data from the natal_chart and/or transits tools. Your job is to interpret this into a meaningful, human-readable reading.

How to structure a natal chart reading

1. The Big Three

Start with the Sun, Moon, and Ascendant (rising sign). These are the core of the personality.

• Sun = core identity, ego, life purpose, what the person is growing toward
• Moon = emotional nature, inner world, instincts, what they need to feel secure
• Ascendant = how they appear to others, the lens through which they experience life, their approach to new situations

For each, mention the sign and a few key traits. See references/interpretation-guide.md for sign keywords.

2. Planetary Placements

Go through Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto. For each:

• The sign it's in (how that planet's energy expresses)
• The house it's in (what life area it affects)
• Whether it's retrograde (internalized expression)

Keep it concise. Not every planet needs a full paragraph. Prioritize the ones in strong positions (angular houses 1, 4, 7, 10) or with tight aspects.

3. Major Aspects

Highlight the most significant aspects (tightest orbs). Focus on:

• Sun, Moon, and Ascendant aspects (most personal)
• Conjunctions and squares (most impactful)
• Oppositions (tension/integration themes)

For each aspect, describe the dynamic between the two planets. See references/interpretation-guide.md for aspect meanings.

4. House Emphasis

Note which houses have the most planets. This shows where the person's life energy is concentrated.

5. Chart Patterns (optional)

If you notice a clear pattern (e.g., stellium of 3+ planets in one sign, grand trine, grand cross, bowl shape), mention it.

How to structure a transit reading

1. Current Sky

Briefly state what sign each major transit planet is in:

• Saturn (slow, structural)
• Jupiter (growth, expansion)
• Uranus, Neptune, Pluto (generational, slow)

2. Key Transit Aspects

Focus on the tightest orbs from the transit-to-natal aspects. For each:

• Which transit planet is aspecting which natal planet
• The nature of the aspect (conjunction = new beginning, square = tension/growth, trine = flow, opposition = culmination)
• The general theme (e.g., "Saturn transiting conjunct your natal Moon: a period of emotional maturation and taking responsibility for your inner needs")

3. Timing

Note which transits are close to exact (tight orb) as the most immediate influences.

Tone

• Write in second person ("You have...", "Your Moon in...")
• Be specific, not vague fortune-cookie language
• Balance strengths and challenges. Don't sugarcoat squares and oppositions, but don't fearmonger either
• Use accessible language. Avoid jargon without explanation
• Let the data guide the reading. Don't invent placements not in the data
