PPT Presentation Workflow
Purpose
Use this skill to guide PowerPoint/PPTX presentation work through available presentation tools, Office MCP servers, plugins, or local deck builders. It focuses on story, editability, visual QA, and final handoff quality. It does not include proprietary MCP server code.
First Check
Before creating or editing a deck:
- Identify the task mode: new deck, redesign, targeted edit, template-following, reference-matching, or export.
- Identify audience: academic defense, conference talk, class report, business review, investor deck, teaching, or poster.
- Confirm output: editable
.pptx, PDF, images, or Google Slides.
- Preserve source decks and templates.
Workflow
-
Build the story spine.
- Convert topic headings into claim-led slide titles.
- Each slide should answer one question or prove one point.
-
Plan slide structure.
- Define section flow, slide count, proof objects, and speaker-note needs.
- Use charts, diagrams, tables, screenshots, or images only when they carry evidence.
-
Create or edit the deck.
- Prefer available Office/MCP/plugin presentation tools.
- Keep text, charts, shapes, and diagrams editable where possible.
- Match supplied templates when the user provides one.
-
Render and inspect.
- Review slide thumbnails for rhythm and consistency.
- Inspect full-size slides for overflow, collisions, low contrast, broken charts, bad crops, and unreadable labels.
- Fix the weakest slides before final export.
-
Deliver.
- Provide the editable
.pptx unless the user asks for another format.
- Include a short summary of changes and any remaining caveats.
Common Tasks
- Create a thesis defense deck from a paper or outline.
- Turn research results into a conference presentation.
- Redesign an existing deck while preserving content.
- Add speaker notes.
- Build charts and architecture diagrams.
- Export slides to PDF or images.
Quality Checklist
- Slide titles state claims, not only topics.
- Every slide has a clear proof object or visual purpose.
- Text is readable at presentation distance.
- Layouts vary enough to avoid template fatigue.
- Charts and diagrams are accurate and labeled.
- The final deck opens cleanly in PowerPoint.
