Best Practices

Always Block Selection

• Use always_ff for flip-flops (sequential logic)
• Use always_comb for combinational logic
• Use always_latch only for intentional latches (rare)
• Never use plain always @* in SystemVerilog

Assignment Rules

• Non-blocking (<=) in always_ff
• Blocking (=) in always_comb
• Never mix assignment types in same block

Parameterization

• Use parameter for configurable values
• Use localparam for derived/internal constants
• Use $clog2() for address width calculation
• Provide sensible defaults
