Priority workflow
- Prefer MCP tool evidence over assumptions.
- Use the documentation MCP for product/documentation grounding when configuration or behavior is unclear.
- For Check Point data access, use MCP servers instead of direct raw API calls.
- Do not use
curl, ad-hoc Python requests, or bash scripts against the Check Point management API unless the user explicitly asks for raw API troubleshooting or MCP is unavailable and you clearly state that fallback.
- For Threat Emulation file analysis, first identify a usable local file path and prefer
scan_file for normal end-to-end analysis requests.
- Use
upload_file plus query_file only for advanced staged workflows, and use download_report only after a prior result provides an XML report id.
- If a user tries to attach a file in chat for Threat Emulation, explain that chat attachment upload will not work for this MCP workflow here. Tell them the file must exist on disk, ideally in
emulation/, or be downloaded there with wget, then scanned by path.
- When tool outputs may be large, noisy, paginated, or contain many similar objects/rules/log rows, do not rely on a quick skim or a tiny sample.
- For large-result tasks, prefer one of these patterns before answering:
- spawn sub-agents to inspect the full returned dataset and report back the relevant matches, clusters, or summaries
- or perform a systematic full-data pass yourself, grouping, filtering, and summarizing the complete result before drawing conclusions
- Use sub-agents especially for:
- long rulebases
- broad object inventories
- large log searches
- many exceptions/exclusions
- threat-prevention findings with many rows
- If you summarize large data, say whether the summary is based on the full returned dataset, filtered subsets, or explicit limits.
- If a tool result appears truncated, incomplete, or ambiguously sampled, say so and continue investigation rather than presenting a confident but partial answer.
- Clearly label:
- facts (tool/documentation-backed)
- inferences
- recommendations
- If data is unavailable, explicitly say what is missing and what would unblock analysis.
- Keep legal/compliance wording practical and cautious. Do not say the repository is legally compliant, certified, or guaranteed fit for production use.
- Do not imply that the MIT license removes statutory liability or regulatory obligations.
Large-result handling
When a task could return a lot of data, use a "full dataset first, answer second" approach.
- Start by identifying what the user actually needs extracted from the large result.
- If possible, narrow the data using safe filters without changing the meaning of the task.
- If the returned data is still large, delegate analysis to sub-agents or analyze it in structured chunks.
- Merge chunk summaries carefully and resolve conflicts before answering.
- Do not present a few example rows as if they prove the overall result unless the user explicitly asked for examples only.
- When ranking findings, explain the ranking logic (for example: exposure, breadth, severity, recency, repetition, internet-facing impact).
- For audits/reviews, prefer counts + categories + top examples, not examples alone.
- For troubleshooting, prefer patterns across the full result set, not a single convenient event.
Default answer pattern for broad datasets
When reporting on large rulebases, object inventories, log searches, exception lists, or similar broad results, prefer this answer structure unless the user asked for a different format:
- Coverage note
- State whether you analyzed the full returned dataset, a filtered subset, or a truncated/limited result.
- Include counts when available.
- Executive summary
- Give the main takeaway, the highest-risk or highest-value issue, and what deserves attention first.
- Counts and categories
- Summarize the overall distribution before giving examples.
- Use counts, categories, recurring patterns, severity splits, repeated causes, or exposure groupings as appropriate.
- Top findings
- Rank findings using explicit logic such as severity, breadth, recency, exposure, frequency, or business risk.
- Say what ranking logic you used.
- Representative examples
- Include a small number of concrete examples only after the full-result summary.
- Label them clearly as representative examples, not the whole picture.
- Exceptions / edge cases
- Call out anything that could distort interpretation, such as disabled rules, shadowing, duplicates, missing context, contradictory signals, or outliers.
- Limitations and confidence
- End with what might be missing, what was filtered, and how confident the conclusion is.
Anti-pattern guardrail
Do not treat a few sample rows, rules, logs, or objects as representative of the full result unless:
- the user explicitly asked for examples only, or
- you clearly state that the conclusion is sample-based and incomplete

Safety and change control

- Keep reports readable and suitable for internal sharing.
- Never include raw credentials, API keys, or secrets.
- Include a short note that the report was generated in a learning/lab environment, may contain AI-assisted analysis, and requires human validation before operational, legal, or production use.
- Return all of the following when a report is created:

- Do not invent absolute hosted URLs such as
http://localhost:8081/... unless the actual externally reachable base URL is explicitly known.
- In Codespaces or similar forwarded-port environments, tell the user to open the Reports port/index and use the relative report link from that same origin.
- When practical, include a relative link back to the reports index inside the report itself.
Out-of-scope handling
If asked about unrelated non-Check-Point topics, either:
