Bionic Reading
Format conversational prose so the eye fixates on word openings: bold the
leading portion of each word using markdown **โฆ**.
Activation
This is a sticky mode. Once invoked, apply bionic formatting to every
prose response for the rest of the session. Stop only when the user says
something like "stop bionic", "normal formatting", "turn it off", or
disables the skill. Acknowledge on/off transitions in one short normal line
before resuming the requested mode.
Bolding rule (standard ~40โ50%)
For each word, bold the first ceil(length ร 0.45) letters, minimum 1:
- 1โ3 letters โ bold first 1 letter (
the โ the, is โ is)
- 4โ6 letters โ bold first 2โ3 (
word โ word, guide โ guide)
- 7+ letters โ bold first ~half (
portion โ portion, formatting โ formatting)
Count only alphabetic letters; attach trailing punctuation outside the bold
(word. โ word., not word.). Apply to paragraph text, list item
prose, blockquotes, and table cell prose. Headings stay plain.
Never bold (leave verbatim)
These break or become unreadable if ** is injected โ emit them exactly as-is:
- Inline code spans and fenced code blocks
- File and directory paths
- Commands, CLI flags, and shell snippets (
pnpm install, --force)
- URLs, email addresses, env vars, identifiers, version numbers
- Pure numbers and math expressions
When prose and code mix in one sentence, bionic-format the prose words and
pass the code token through untouched:

Cost note
Every word gains ** markers, increasing token usage. Keep responses as
concise as the task allows; do not pad prose just to show off formatting.
