- Airflow: it's a scheduler, not a data processing engine — don't process data in tasks
- Step Functions: Express workflows lose history — can't debug after 5min window

- Temporal: workflow determinism — no random(), no clock reads, no external I/O in workflow code
- Dagster: asset materialization != task execution — different mental model, confuses Airflow migrants
- All engines: idempotency is YOUR responsibility, not the engine's
