metadata.openclaw.* | Drop entirely |
allowed-tools | Keep if present |
| Markdown body | Keep as-is |
Result format:
---
name: <skill-name>
description: <description>
---
<markdown body unchanged>
Input Formats
This skill handles several input formats from ClawHub:
Format A — Direct SKILL.md URL or skill name (preferred):
install the "todoist-cli" skill
https://github.com/owner/repo/blob/main/SKILL.md
Format B — ClawHub bash install prompt (common):
Run bash <(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/.../install.sh) to install X
→ Do NOT run the script. Instead, look for SKILL.md in the same repo.
Steps
-
Identify input format and extract repo info
- Format A (skill name): search ClawHub
- Try:
curl -s "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/openclaw/clawhub/main/skills/<name>/SKILL.md"
- Format A (GitHub URL): derive raw URL and fetch
- Format B (bash install prompt): never run the script
- Extract repo from URL (e.g.
Minara-AI/openclaw-skills)
- Try to fetch SKILL.md at common paths:
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/<owner>/<repo>/main/SKILL.md
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/<owner>/<repo>/main/skills/<name>/SKILL.md
https://api.github.com/repos/<owner>/<repo>/contents/ to list files
- If repo doesn't exist or is private: inform the user, stop
-
Parse the fetched SKILL.md
- Extract
name and description from frontmatter
- Strip all OpenClaw-specific fields (
version, metadata, etc.)
- Keep the markdown body unchanged
-
Security check before installing
- Scan for: shell commands that run external scripts, credential harvesting,
curl | bash patterns
- Warn the user if anything suspicious is found
- Ask for confirmation before proceeding
-
Install to project
- Write to
.claude/skills/<name>/SKILL.md
- If the directory already exists, ask the user before overwriting
-
Register in IMPORTED.md
- Append a row to
.claude/skills/IMPORTED.md:
| [<name>](.claude/skills/<name>/) | [<source-label>](<source-url>) | <YYYY-MM-DD> | <brief notes> |
- Create the file if it doesn't exist (use the template below)
-
Report
- Confirm the installed path
- Summarize what was kept and what was stripped
- If install failed: explain why clearly
IMPORTED.md template (create if missing)
# Imported External Skills
Skills imported from ClawHub or other external sources.
To remove a skill: delete the directory listed below.
| Skill | Source | Installed | Notes |
|-------|--------|-----------|-------|
Example
User: import the "todoist-cli" skill from ClawHub
→ Fetch: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/openclaw/clawhub/main/skills/todoist-cli/SKILL.md
→ Strip: version, metadata.openclaw
→ Install: .claude/skills/todoist-cli/SKILL.md
→ Report: Installed. Stripped: version, metadata.openclaw.requires
Notes
- OpenClaw skills are community-contributed — treat as untrusted code
- Only the SKILL.md is converted; supporting scripts/assets are not fetched automatically
- If the skill references additional files, inform the user
- Project skills (
.claude/skills/) take precedence over user-level skills (~/.claude/skills/)
