Quick Activation
When auditing accessibility, run 6 checks:
- Automated Scan — axe-core violations (zero critical/serious allowed)
- Keyboard Navigation — Tab through everything. Every element reachable? Focus ring visible?
- Screen Reader — Announcements correct? Labels present? Dynamic content announced?
- Color Contrast — Normal text 4.5:1, large text 3:1, UI components 3:1
- Focus Management — Modal opens → focus inside → Escape closes → focus returns
- Motion — prefers-reduced-motion respected? No auto-playing animations?
Critical Violations (block deployment)
- Interactive elements not keyboard accessible
- Missing focus ring (outline: none without replacement)
- Form inputs without labels
- Images without alt text
- Modal without focus trap
- Color as only information conveyor
