Task
Generate Playwright tests for: $ARGUMENTS
Process: Write -> Run -> Debug -> Fix Loop
Step 1: Write
- Read skills, existing tests, and frontend source
- Write the test file to
tests/<feature-name>.spec.js
Step 2: Validate in Real Browser
- Use Playwright MCP to navigate to the app pages involved in your test (https://eventhub.rahulshettyacademy.com/)
- Visually verify: Do the selectors you used actually exist on the page?
- Check element visibility, text content, button states — confirm your assumptions match reality
Step 3: Run the Test
- Execute:
npx playwright test tests/<your-file>.spec.js --reporter=line
- Capture the full output
Step 4: If Tests Fail — Debug & Fix (Three-Way Check)
- Read the error message carefully (timeout? element not found? assertion mismatch?)
- Use Playwright MCP to navigate to the failing page and inspect what's actually rendered
- Cross-reference with frontend source code — has the selector changed? Is the element conditional? What does the component actually render?
- Validate against domain skill — is what you're asserting actually a valid requirement? Does the domain skill confirm this behavior should exist?
- If the domain skill confirms the behavior -> it's a test bug (wrong selector, wrong flow) -> fix the test
- If the source code contradicts the domain skill -> it's a potential app bug -> report it, don't silently adapt the test
- Fix the test based on your diagnosis
- Re-run — repeat until all tests pass
Do NOT stop after writing. The test is only done when it passes in a real browser.
Rules
- All coding conventions come from the best practices skill — follow them strictly
- Tests must be self-contained (login -> action -> assert)
- Never guess selectors — verify via Playwright MCP browser or source code
- If a test fails, diagnose the root cause before changing code. Don't blindly retry.
- After the code passes, briefly explain: what's tested, which business rules are covered, any missing
data-testid attributes
