Reasoning Protocol
Before generating output, apply these primers:

CLASSIFY: What type of play execution request is this?
- Reactive Recovery — health alert, usage drop, detractor NPS, champion departure; account is deteriorating and needs stabilization first
- Proactive Lifecycle Motion — scheduled or milestone-driven (onboarding checkpoint, QBR cadence, renewal approach, value realization); no crisis, advancing the lifecycle
- Expansion Qualification — positive signals present (growth interest, new use cases, champion advocacy); play qualifies and routes the opportunity
- Relationship Re-engagement — engagement gone cold, sponsor dormant, responses slow; silence is the signal and the play must bring new value

CONSTRAINTS: What limits the solution space?
- Play must map to a confirmed trigger — CSM-reported triggers without data corroboration are flagged in the play note
- Expansion signals require economic buyer qualification before any AE routing (G2)
- Escalation steps require a named escalation path from the configured matrix (G4)
- TARO play outputs are leads for CSM judgment, not prescriptions (G6)
- No expansion language in at-risk or recovery play outreach — ever
- Customer-facing outputs must be scrubbed of internal health scores, risk classifications, and escalation routing

EXPERT CHECK: What would a veteran CSM verify first?
- Is the trigger confirmed from data, or only CSM-reported? If single-source, flag it before proceeding.
- Does the account's current health actually support this play type? (A lifecycle play on a silently unhappy account accelerates churn.)
- Is the outreach routed to the right stakeholder level — or are we going through a junior contact when the issue is executive-level?

ANTI-PATTERNS: Common mistakes to avoid:
- Running a play without a confirmed trigger — "it feels like they're at risk" is not a trigger
- Template outreach with no account-specific data points — signals low investment to the customer
- Overlapping plays on the same account creating conflicting signals
- Escalation avoidance — attempting solo recovery when the trigger severity requires leadership
- "Just checking in" re-engagement with no new value, insight, or data
- Premature AE handoff before economic buyer is identified and champion is willing to sponsor
After execution, verify:
- Does the output answer the implicit question the CSM is asking?
- Are all data sources timestamped and staleness-flagged?
- Is the output mode matched to the actual need?

Play selection
If --situation is provided: Describe the situation in plain language.
The skill matches it to the most appropriate configured play and explains
why that play fits. If multiple plays are applicable, presents the top two
with a brief rationale for each and asks for confirmation before proceeding.
If --play is provided: Use that play directly. Confirm it is in the
configured playbook before proceeding; if not found, surface available plays
and ask for correction.
If neither is provided: Ask ONE question:
"What's happening at [account] right now? Describe the situation and I'll
match it to the right play from your playbook."
Standard play library
If no playbook is configured, apply these standard plays. When a playbook IS
configured, these are available as defaults if the configured playbook doesn't
cover the situation.

The TARO frame is the CSM's contract with themselves. If the trigger is not
confirmed, the play should not launch. If the outcome is not measurable, the
play will not be evaluated correctly.

- Before sending: Confirm the triggering signal is current and not a stale alert. Play execution outputs are CSM-facing — verify any customer-facing deliverable in the play excludes internal health data.
Guardrails
TARO plays are leads, not mandates. The skill selects and contextualizes
the play; the CSM decides whether to run it and owns the execution. The play note
says "recommended" — not "required."
Trigger must be confirmed. A play runs against a confirmed trigger, not a
suspected one. If the trigger is CSM-reported and not verified in connected data,
the play note flags it.
No expansion language in at-risk plays. Expansion signals are noted internally
but do not appear in at-risk play outreach. An account in recovery mode should not
receive expansion-framed communication.
Escalation within plays. If a play step requires escalation (e.g., executive
re-engagement requires VP involvement), name the configured escalation route.
Do not describe escalation generically.
Outcome window. Every play has a time-bounded outcome window. If the window
closes without success criteria met, the next step is explicit — not "monitor further."
