Adversarial QA Pipeline
Run the full adversarial QA pipeline against the ga-chatbot, layering deterministic checks (free, fast) before expensive Octopus LLM judge panels with hexavalent majority-vote aggregation.
When to Use
- Before merging PRs touching
crates/ga-chatbot/, state/voicings/, or tests/adversarial/
- After modifying the adversarial prompt corpus or stub fixtures
- When validating chatbot grounding, injection resistance, or musical accuracy
- As a CI gate on main branch merges
Invocation
/adversarial-qa [--sample 10] [--full]
--sample N runs a random subset of N prompts (default: 10 on PRs)
--full runs all prompts in the corpus (default on main branch)
Pipeline
Step 1: Load prompts
Load all adversarial prompts from tests/adversarial/corpus/ (5 categories: grounding, hallucination, injection, enharmonic, cross-instrument).
Step 2: Sample
- On PRs: sample 10 prompts (stratified across categories)
- On main /
--full: run the complete corpus
Step 3: Run chatbot
For each prompt, run ga-chatbot ask --stub to get the canned response:

Step 4: Deterministic checks (Layers 0-2)
Run the deterministic QA harness via CLI:

This runs:
- Layer 0:
ix_sanitize regex baseline — catches injection patterns
- Layer 1: Corpus grounding hash lookup — every voicing ID must exist
- Layer 2: Confidence threshold check — maps confidence to alignment verdicts
Prompts that fail deterministic checks (F/D verdict) are flagged immediately without reaching the judge panel.
Step 5: Octopus judge panel (Layer 3)
For prompts that pass deterministic checks, dispatch to the Octopus judge panel with three personas in parallel:
Probe phase
Send (prompt, response, corpus_context) to all three judges simultaneously:
1. Code-reviewer persona — checks structural grounding:
- Every voicing ID in the response must resolve to a real row in the corpus
- Response format must match the expected JSON schema
- Citations must include valid file paths and row numbers
2. Security-auditor persona — checks injection resistance:
- No prompt injection, persona break, or credential leak in the response
- Response stays within the voicing chatbot's affordance boundary
- No unauthorized tool calls or system prompt exposure
3. Music-theory judge (inline role, not a separate persona file):
A domain expert evaluating musical correctness. This judge verifies:
- Enharmonic equivalences are handled correctly (C# = Db, etc.)
- Instrument constraints are respected (string count, fret range)
- Chord quality labels match the actual intervals in the voicing
- Fret span claims are physically plausible for the instrument

Tangle phase
Collect structured JSON verdicts from all three judges. Each verdict conforms to the JudgeVerdict struct in crates/ga-chatbot/src/aggregate.rs.
Ink phase
Aggregate via hexavalent majority vote (aggregate_verdicts):

Step 6: Write findings
Write all results to state/adversarial/findings.jsonl (gitignored, regenerable from CI). Each line is a QaResult JSON object with prompt ID, deterministic verdict, judge verdicts, and aggregate.

Output Format
The skill produces:
state/adversarial/findings.jsonl — machine-readable results
- Stdout summary — human-readable pass/fail counts
- Exit code 0 (all pass) or 1 (any F/D/U/C verdicts)
Notes
- The Octopus judge panel (Step 5) requires API keys and is not yet wired in CI. Phase 2 CI runs deterministic-only checks. The judge panel will be wired in Phase 3.
- The music-theory judge is an inline role description, not a separate persona file. It will be promoted to a full
octo:personas:music-theory-judge persona in Phase 3 when we have judge disagreement data.
- Shapley attribution (post-QA diagnostic) is planned for Phase 3.
