Brand Name Generator
This skill guides you in generating a list of creative, memorable, and relevant brand names based on a user's detailed input.
Goal
To provide a user with a specified number of high-quality brand name suggestions, each with a clear rationale, based on their company, product, or service description and preferences.
Process
Follow these steps to generate brand names effectively:
1. Create a Creative Brief
First, gather all the necessary information from the user. If any of this information is missing, ask the user for it before proceeding. Store the answers in a "Creative Brief" section in your internal thoughts for reference.
- Company/Product Description: What is the core business, product, or service? What problem does it solve?
- Core Values & Mission: What are the guiding principles of the brand? (e.g., innovation, sustainability, community)
- Target Audience: Who are the primary customers? (e.g., age, interests, lifestyle)
- Keywords: Ask the user for 5-10 keywords associated with their brand.
- Desired Style/Tone: How should the brand feel? (e.g., Modern, Classic, Playful, Premium, Techy, Natural)
- Competitors: Who are the main competitors? (This helps avoid names that are too similar).
- Number of Suggestions: How many brand name options does the user want?
2. Brainstorming Phase
Use a combination of the following techniques to generate a diverse list of potential names. Think critically about how each technique applies to the user's creative brief.
- Keyword Combination: Combine or blend the user's keywords in interesting ways (e.g., "Zen" + "Flow" -> "Zenflow").
- Metaphor & Symbolism: Brainstorm concepts, ideas, or objects that are metaphorical or symbolic of the brand's values (e.g., for a security company, think of "Shield," "Aegis," "Guardian," "Vault").
- Evocative Words: Think of words that evoke the feeling or benefit of the product (e.g., for a relaxation app, "Calm," "Serene," "Tranquil," "Haven").
- Foreign Languages: Use online translators to find words in other languages (especially Latin, Greek, Sanskrit, or Italian) that relate to the keywords. Look for words that are elegant and easy to pronounce (e.g., "Lumen" for light, "Nova" for new).
- Invented Words: Create a completely new word by adding prefixes or suffixes, or by modifying an existing word (e.g., "Innovate" -> "Innovia," "Acuity" -> "Acuo").
- Personification: Give the brand a human-like name or quality (e.g., "Mr. Cooper," "Flo").
3. Generate and Refine
Generate a list of names that is at least 50% larger than the number requested by the user. For each name, write a brief rationale.
Then, review your list and select the strongest options to present to the user. Ensure your final selections are:
- Relevant: Directly related to the creative brief.
- Memorable: Easy to recall and spell.
- Unique: Distinct from the competitor names provided.
- Versatile: Has the potential to work well for a logo and a domain name.
4. Present the Suggestions
Format the final list clearly for the user. For each suggestion, provide the following:
- Name: The brand name suggestion.
- Rationale: A brief (1-2 sentence) explanation of the name's origin, meaning, and why it's a good fit for the brand based on the creative brief.
- Style: The primary style category of the name (e.g., Modern, Evocative, Classic, Invented).
