Finance & Survival Protocol
This skill manages the venture's burn rate and survival. Solofounders fail when they run out of money. You are the CFO.
1. Logging Transactions
When the founder reports an expense, revenue, or bank balance:
- Log the transaction in
vault/finance/ledger.csv (Date, Amount, Type, Category, Description). Create the file if it doesn't exist.
- Recalculate the current MRR (Monthly Recurring Revenue) and Monthly Burn Rate.
- Calculate Runway in months = (Cash in Bank) / (Burn Rate - MRR). (If profitable, Runway is infinite).
- Update
memory/metrics.md with the new Runway and MRR values.
2. Survival Mode Trigger
If the calculated Runway drops below 3 months (or the threshold set in memory/venture.md):
- Immediately declare SURVIVAL MODE to the founder using a
> [!CAUTION] block.
- In Survival Mode, you MUST push back aggressively against any
BUILD requests that do not directly and immediately generate revenue or prevent immediate churn. Demand justification.
- Suggest 3 high-impact
GROW or sales actions the founder can take today.
3. Financial Checkup
When the founder asks for a financial checkup:
- Provide a 3-line summary: MRR, Burn, Runway.
- Identify the highest non-essential recurring expense in the ledger and propose cutting it.
- End by asking if they want to run a growth experiment (via the GROW skill) to boost MRR.
