| description | Generate and vet names -- characters, places, magic terms, book titles, chapter titles -- consistent with each book's naming rules. Use when Sagar says "name this", "title for this chapter", "what should I call", or needs any proper noun for a book. |
Name forge
Names are worldbuilding's most visible surface and the first thing readers judge. Every name request routes through the book's established conventions.
Preparation
Read the book's _bible.md naming ledger and the naming rules in references/worldbuilding.md. For chapter/book titles also skim references/openings-endings.md (titles are promises too).
Character and place names
- Identify the culture/region the name belongs to; use its phonetic signature from the bible. No signature yet -> propose one (2-3 sounds/patterns) and get a yes before generating.
- Offer 5-8 candidates, each with a one-line rationale (meaning, echo, sound-feel). Mark any that collide with existing names' first letters or syllable shapes -- readers skim;
Kaelen and Kaelin in one cast is a defect.
- Vet each candidate: say it aloud (no tongue-twisters), search the bible for collisions, quick web check that it isn't a famous trademark or another franchise's signature name.
- Winner goes into the bible ledger with its culture tag.
Fanfic names
Match the source universe's naming register instead (wizarding world: Latin-rooted spells, alliterative founders, evocative English surnames). A name that sounds like the wrong franchise breaks immersion faster than any plot hole.
Titles
- Book titles: promise the tone and the shelf; short enough for a spine.
- Chapter titles: promise the chapter without spoiling its turn; consistent register within a book (all-noun-phrase, all-quotation, etc. -- whichever pattern chapter one set).
Rules
- Never rename anything already on-page in a published chapter.
- His taste is the tiebreak; present candidates, don't pick for him unless he says "just pick".
