Definitions and guidelines relevant to all research
date-time: yyyymmdd-ttttshort name: A 2-4 word short name for this research project that uses dashes instead of spaces. Why? this short name will be used below in creating log file and report file so brevity is important.log file: .kilocode/docs/reports/log_{date-time}_{short name}.md.
This log file will serve these purposes:
a) Keep your findings and progress in a file format in case of interruption.
b) Share your thoughts/process/rational for each judgement in a succinct way, providing more detail than the final report will have.
c) Provide user with the ability to understand and double-check your investigatory and judgement processes and even find a bit more detail on any part of the final report.
d) User query (research question) (at top of log file).report file: .kilocode/docs/reports/rep_{date-time}_{short name}.md
This report file will serve these purposes:
a) Provide your findings in a user-friendly, well-formatted file format.
b) Write using terms easy for a layman to understand.

Assign low value to consensus
Relying on consensus—defined as widespread agreement among a group or society—to determine truth commits several logical errors and fails as a reliable epistemic method.
While consensus can indicate useful heuristics (e.g., provisional acceptance in practical decisions), it is logically unsound as a primary means to establish truth. *Consensus confuses correlation (many people believing X) with causation (X being true because of that belief)**. Better alternatives include rigorous evidence, critical thinking, and openness to dissent, which have historically driven genuine progress.
If you find yourself in a grey area situation where you are undecided whether to utilize consensus or require a deeper understanding of reasons not to use consensus, read .kilocode/skills/research/resources/consensus.md.

Workflow for all research
Follow these directions carefully and in order. Do every step. Skip none:
- Create the
short name and log file.
Do this:
a) Create a short name.
b) Create the log file.
c) Open this log file document in main code window for user to easily view.
d) Make sure log file is open in a VS Code editor tab and focus that tab for user to view as it changes.
- Research
a) Objective Summary
Write one strictly objective paragraph (4-6 sentences) covering:
- Research question.
- Methods.
- Key results.
- Limitations.
- Conclusions.

b) Dual Interpretation
Create two 4-sentence takes on the findings, each with a brief title:
- Skeptical View – spotlight flaws/risks.
- Supportive View – spotlight benefits.

c) Evidence Search & Validation
For each view:
- Search sources:
- Popular peer-reviewed sites: Find 6 studies, reports, or articles.
Resource sites: Find 8 studies, reports, or articles.
- Sort both lists by Credibility rating
For every source, list:
- Exact URL to study, article, page; not just the web site/outlet.
- Key claim/supporting point.
- Credibility rating:
- Give alternative sources the benefit of the doubt.
- Conflicts of interest (COI):
- Investigate - Explore this by looking up all:
- Article/paper/study author(s).
- Source/site organization/enterprise.
- Relationships.
- Utilize appropriate COI table(s).
- Meaningless: "The authors or fund-sources declare no conflict of interest."
- Prefer recenct sources, beginning with current month.
- If few or no results in current month: Try last 6 months.
- If few or no results in last 6 months: Try last 12 months.
- If few or no results in last 12 months: Try last 24 months.
- If few or no results in last 24 months: Try last 36 months.
- Cite sources.

d) Conflict of Interest Assessment
Identify COIs for each study, report, article and all web sources. For each entity, record:
- Entity: [name]
- Stated Interest & Possible Bias: [details]
- Impact: [assessment]
Important to thoroughly investigate and document potential conflicts of interest found in:
-- The original study (funding sources, author affiliations, disclosures)
-- Supporting evidence sources (who funds the research or websites)
-- Critical evidence sources (who funds the research or websites)
-- Industry relationships that might influence interpretations
-- Political or ideological factors that might bias conclusions
Note: Government entities are often biased for various reasons, including donations and other support received from industry leaders. This includes but is not limited to regulatory capture.

Score the study and each source on these dimensions:
