Convert — Detox

Converts Detox (React Native grey-box E2E) test suites to any supported target, and emits Detox from any mobile source.

When to use

Trigger when:

• .detoxrc.{js,json} or detox key in package.json.
• e2e/ directory with .test.{js,ts} files using Detox globals (device, element, by, expect, waitFor).
• @detox/cli or detox in package.json devDependencies.
• React Native project with testID props on views.
• Calls matching element(by.id(...)), element(by.label(...)), element(by.text(...)), device.launchApp(...).
• Jest config testRunner: 'jest-circus/runner' with Detox adapter.
• detox build, detox test, detox init CLI invocation.

Scope

• Detox 20.x (sync API), 19.x (async API). Flag version-specific differences.
• Jest runner (current) and Mocha runner (legacy v18 and earlier).
• JavaScript and TypeScript tests.
• iOS simulator + Android emulator configurations.
• Matchers: by.id, by.label, by.text, by.type, by.traits, compound and, withAncestor, withDescendant.
• Actions: tap, longPress, multiTap, tapAtPoint, typeText, replaceText, clearText, swipe, scroll, scrollTo, pinch, setColumnToValue (pickers).
• Expectations: toBeVisible, toExist, toNotExist, toHaveText, toHaveLabel, toHaveId, toHaveValue, toHaveToggleValue, toBeFocused, toHaveSliderPosition.
• Waits: waitFor(...).toBeVisible().withTimeout(n).
• Device APIs: launchApp, reloadReactNative, terminateApp, installApp, uninstallApp, shake, openURL, sendToHome, pressBack (Android), setBiometricEnrollment, matchFace, matchFinger, setOrientation, setStatusBar, setURLBlacklist, clearKeychain, disableSynchronization, enableSynchronization.
• Test hooks: Jest beforeAll, beforeEach, afterEach, afterAll.

Out of scope

• Detox iOS-only / Android-only features not available on the other platform — preserve as platform-conditional in metadata.
• Detox Copilot (AI-assisted step generation) — out of scope.
• Performance tests (Detox doesn't have a built-in perf measure primitive).
• React Native Web (Detox doesn't support) — flag.
