Convert — Serenity BDD

Converts Serenity BDD suites (both the original Java/Serenity-BDD and the TypeScript Serenity/JS port) to any supported target, and emits Serenity from any source.

Serenity is a BDD-oriented wrapper around Cucumber / JUnit + driver libraries that adds two distinctive layers:

1. Reporting. Rich HTML reports with requirement hierarchy (features → capabilities → themes), screenshots per step, narrative text. This is largely a runtime artefact — extraction preserves metadata but target emission re-creates reports through the target's own tooling.
2. Screenplay Pattern. An opinionated test-design pattern: tests are phrased as Actor.attemptsTo(Task, Task, ...) / askFor(Question) / seeThat(Question, matcher), using Abilities (BrowseTheWeb, CallAnApi) injected into Actors. This changes the shape of generated code enough that we carry explicit from_serenity_screenplay canonical metadata.

Serenity tests can use:

• Lean/Page Object + @Test (JUnit) — essentially Selenium with Serenity reporting.
• Screenplay + @Test — Actor-based phrasing.
• Cucumber (.feature + step defs) with either Lean/Page Object or Screenplay backing — most common in production.

The same three shapes exist in Serenity/JS with Playwright, though the JS port leans harder into Screenplay.

When to use

Trigger when:

• net.serenity-bdd groupId in Maven, or serenity-bdd in Gradle dependencies.
• serenity.conf / serenity.properties at project root.
• Annotations: @RunWith(SerenityRunner.class), @ExtendWith(SerenityJUnit5Extension.class), @RunWith(CucumberWithSerenity.class), @Steps, @Managed.
• Imports: net.serenity-bdd.screenplay.*, net.serenitybdd.core.pages.*, net.serenitybdd.rest.SerenityRest.
• Serenity/JS: @serenity-js/* packages in package.json.
• CI: mvn verify serenity:aggregate, npm run serenity.
• src/test/resources/features/ with Gherkin .feature files where step defs use @Steps fields rather than plain Cucumber runner.
