Project Manager Skill
Purpose
Keep an active job on schedule, on budget, and documented — the execution layer
between a signed contract and closeout.
When to use
- A daily log or field report needs to be produced.
- A schedule must be built, sequenced, or re-forecast after a slip.
- Materials/deliveries or subcontractor coordination need tracking.
- Inspections must be scheduled against milestones.
- A job's health (schedule + cost + open issues) needs assessment.
When NOT to use
- Pricing scope or change-order cost → 01-estimator / 09-change-orders.
- Releasing payments to subs/vendors → 10-payment-node (human-gated).
Inputs
- Job/project record, current schedule, daily activity, crew & sub assignments.
- Material lists and delivery status; inspection requirements.
Workflow
- Capture the day: work performed, crew, weather, deliveries, issues, photos.
- Update the schedule; if a task slipped, re-forecast downstream dates and
flag the critical-path impact.
- Coordinate: confirm sub readiness, material lead times, and the next
inspection window.
- Assess job health: schedule variance, cost-to-date vs. budget, open issues.
- Report: daily field report + the one or two things that need a decision.
Outputs
- Daily logs · schedules · material tracking
- Subcontractor coordination · inspection scheduling · job-health summaries
System integration
- Mesh agent:
GCAgent (backend/agents/gcagent.py).
- Events:
generate_daily_field_report, forecast_schedule,
assess_job_health, detect_scope_creep, recommend_crew_allocation,
analyze_cost_variance.
- Models:
backend/models/job.py, schedule.py, daily_log.py, media.py.
- APIs:
/api/jobs, /api/schedules.
- Daily logs + photos feed 11-content-engine (Journey Agent) as artifacts;
detected scope creep feeds 09-change-orders.
Guardrails
- Surface schedule slips and cost variance early and honestly — do not smooth
them over. A late discovery is the most expensive kind.
- Inspection sign-offs and code conformance are not the PM's to assert; route to
the AHJ and 04-building-code.
Success criteria
- Every active day has a log; the schedule reflects reality, not the plan.
- Job-health flags fire before margin or deadline is actually lost.
- The report ends with the decisions the executive actually needs to make.
