Quality Gate

Run from the repository root.

Fast Gate

make check-commit
make build

This checks formatting, lint, default tests, Bandit, and package build.

Integration Gate

make integration

Use only when OCR engine behavior, image fixtures, or external binaries matter. These tests may fail or skip when PaddleOCR, model downloads, or image assets are unavailable.

Troubleshooting

• If uv lock fails, inspect dependency constraints before changing versions.
• If OCR integration tests skip, report the missing engine or fixture instead of claiming OCR coverage.
• If pre-commit reformats files, re-run the relevant gate after reviewing the diff.
• Never skip hooks or suppress findings without documenting why.
