Gotchas
Common mistakes to avoid when applying these frameworks:
- Don't recommend tools before defining capabilities needed: Austin Hay's Capability-First Framework exists because most martech failures come from buying tools and then looking for problems to solve. Always start with "what capability is missing?" not "which tool should we buy?"
- Don't recommend Stage 4 solutions for a Stage 2 company: ML-driven personalization, real-time data activation, and predictive churn models require mature event tracking and clean data foundations.
