Run from the src/ directory with stderr redirected to a log file (captures font atlas diagnostics and .NET exceptions without cluttering the terminal):

cd src && dotnet run --project TianWen.UI.Gui 2>gui-stderr.log

Use run_in_background: true on the Bash tool so the GUI runs independently. Do NOT use shell & backgrounding - the GUI exits immediately when backgrounded via & (SDL requires the foreground process).

After the GUI closes, check gui-stderr.log if there were any issues. If the process crashes (exit code 127 or 13x), always read the stderr log for the actual .NET exception before drawing conclusions from the exit code.

Compare test-output PNGs across yyyyMMdd run folders to flag visual regressions. Walks `%TEMP%/TianWen.Lib.Tests/` and `%TEMP%/FC.SDK.Raw.Tests/`, picks the two most recent date directories, diffs same-named PNGs (matched by test-name folder + filename), and reports per-file mean absolute pixel difference, max difference, changed-pixel percent, and byte-size delta. Use after a CPU/GPU pipeline change to confirm nothing else moved, or after refactoring the render pipeline to spot unintended regressions in the Canon CR2, FITS viewer, or stretch-test outputs.

Delete old `yyyyMMdd` test-output date folders under `%TEMP%/TianWen.Lib.Tests/` and `%TEMP%/FC.SDK.Raw.Tests/`, keeping only the N most recent (default 3). These folders accumulate quickly because the test fixtures dump TIFFs/PNGs on every run; pruning keeps disk usage in check.
