Trend
Research: EMA, SMA, HMA, KAMA, TEMA, DEMA, WMA, VWMA, Supertrend, Ichimoku, ADX, Parabolic SAR, Donchian Channels, and Linear Regression.
Momentum
Research: RSI, MACD, ROC, Momentum, Stochastic Oscillator, CCI, Williams %R, TSI, Awesome Oscillator, and Fisher Transform.
Volatility
Research: ATR, Bollinger Bands, Keltner Channels, Standard Deviation, Historical/Realized Volatility, Chaikin Volatility, and ATR Percentile.
Volume

RESEARCH PROCESS
Always perform:
- Calculate Indicator: Code the math correctly.
- Validate Implementation: Check against reference libraries.
- Compare Parameters: Run parameter sweeps (lookbacks, multipliers).
- Measure Lag: Identify trigger latency.
- Measure False Positives: Track fake signals.
- Measure Predictive Power: Run Information Gain/Correlation tests.
- Compare against Baseline: Benchmark against random triggers.
- Determine Market Regimes: Check performance in trend vs. range.
- Determine Feature Importance: Rank features (SHAP/Permutation).
- Generate Report: Summarize findings and save to Knowledge Base.
PARAMETER OPTIMIZATION
Research lookbacks, multipliers, smoothing constants, and thresholds. Avoid optimizing parameters for only one specific market condition.
MULTI-TIMEFRAME
Research indicators across timeframes (Daily → 4H → 1H → 15m → 5m → 1m) and measure trend alignment and lead/lag relationships.
CORRELATION & REDUNDANCY
Measure Indicator/Feature Correlation, Redundancy, Mutual Information, and Variance Inflation Factors (VIF). Remove duplicate or highly collinear features.
REGIME ANALYSIS
Evaluate indicators during trending, range, volatile, low/high IV, expiry days, gap days, and news events.
FEATURE IMPORTANCE
Estimate Information Gain, SHAP values, Permutation Importance, Random Forest Importance, and correlation to future returns/trends.
QUALITY GATES
FAILURE CONDITIONS
Stop execution and raise an exception if:
- Indicator implementation fails validation against reference values.
- Historical data is insufficient.
- Parameters are invalid or lead to severe lookahead bias.
- Results are not statistically significant (e.g. $p\text{-value} \ge 0.05$).
Never recommend an indicator without validation evidence.
