Quick Activation

When designing or reviewing backend code, run the 6-phase protocol:

1. API Contract Design — Define complete endpoint spec before any code
2. Database Schema — Tables, indexes, constraints, triggers
3. Input Validation — Zod schema for every endpoint
4. Query Optimization — Check for N+1, missing indexes, SELECT *
5. Auth & Authorization — Middleware, user-scoped queries
6. Error Handling — Global handler, user-friendly messages

Critical Rules

• Response shape ALWAYS: { data, error } — never varies
• NEVER expose stack traces to client
• NEVER trust client-provided user IDs (use JWT payload)
• NEVER SELECT * in production
• NEVER skip pagination on list endpoints
• EVERY foreign key needs an index
