Lead Magnet
Command: /lead-magnet
From: $100M Leads by Alex Hormozi
When to use: Building an email list, growing an audience, or getting more people to engage with your business before buying.
What it does
Designs a high-converting lead magnet using Hormozi's exact 7-step framework — a complete solution to a narrow problem that leads people toward your core offer.
The Core Definition
"A lead magnet is a complete solution to a narrow problem. It's typically a lower-cost or free offer to see who is interested in your stuff. And, once solved, it reveals another problem solved by your core offer."
Think of it like salty pretzels at a bar: solve the hunger (narrow problem), create thirst (next problem = your core offer).
"Make your lead magnet so insanely good people will feel stupid saying no. A person who pays with their time now is more likely to pay with their money later."
The 7-Step Process (from the book)
Step 1: Figure out the problem to solve and who to solve it for
- Pick a narrow problem that sits one step before your core offer
- When you solve it, it should reveal the next problem your core offer solves
- Example: Hormozi's book is a lead magnet → solves "not enough leads" → reveals need for his investment/scaling offer
Step 2: Figure out how to solve it
Three types of lead magnets:
- Awareness — make them aware of a problem they don't know they have
- Sample/Trial — give them a short version of your core offer
- One step in the process — solve one part, making the rest obvious
Step 3: Figure out how to deliver it
- Software/tool, PDF/guide, video, checklist, email sequence, webinar, sample
Step 4: Test what to name it
- Name should make the result obvious
- Apply Grand Slam Offer naming principles (specific, outcome-focused)
Step 5: Make it easy to consume
- Short enough to finish in one sitting
- Immediate value, not "read this and in 3 months you'll see results"
Step 6: Make it darn good
- Valuable enough that you could charge for it
- "The business that provides the most value wins. Period."
Step 7: Make it easy for them to tell you they want more
- Clear CTA to your core offer
- The lead magnet should make the next step obvious
The Problem-Solution Cycle
Every lead magnet lives in a cycle:
Problem → Lead magnet solves it → New problem revealed → Core offer solves it → Money
Pick the problem that sits immediately before your core offer's value.
Prompt template
My core offer: [describe it and the price]
My customer: [who they are]
Their journey: [what steps do they take before they need my core offer?]
Build my lead magnet using Hormozi's 7 steps:
1. Which narrow problem sits right before they need my core offer?
2. What type of lead magnet best solves it (awareness / sample / one step)?
3. What format should it take (tool, checklist, PDF, video, trial)?
4. Give me 3 name options (specific, outcome-focused)
5. How should I deliver it to make it easy to consume?
6. What's the CTA that bridges from the lead magnet to my core offer?
Key principle
"A person who pays with their time now is more likely to pay with their money later."
