Transcript to Notebook
Use the bundled deterministic converter. Do not invent transcript-specific
spelling corrections or branch on filenames, folders, speakers, or topics.
Convert
- Resolve the user's transcript file path. Accept arbitrary filenames and
text-like extensions; do not require
transcript.txt.
- Choose an output only when requested. Otherwise let the script write
<input-name>_notebook.html beside the source.
- Run:

Pass either an HTML file or directory to --output:
node "<skill-dir>\scripts\build_transcript_notebook.js" "<transcript-file>" --output "<output-path>"
Use --title, --brand, --author, --description, --export-stem, or
--storage-key only when supplied or needed. Use --config <json> for reusable
metadata; otherwise the script reads notebook.config.json beside the input
when present.
Preserve content
- Detect explicit chapters, sections, parts, Markdown headings, compact or
bracketed timestamps, verbose video-export timestamps, and SRT/WebVTT cues.
- Fall back to one complete
Transcript section when no markers exist.
- Preserve unclassified meaningful content instead of truncating it.
- Remove only structural timestamps, known interface labels, filler pauses,
obvious function-word stutters, and spacing artifacts.
- Preserve proper nouns, domain terms, numerical facts, and source wording when
a correction is uncertain. Let the user edit remaining source errors in HTML.
Validate and hand off
Read the script's JSON result and verify that the output exists. The converter
itself validates required interactive controls and parses the embedded
JavaScript before writing. Report section, paragraph, and word counts.
Explain that browser autosave does not rewrite the disk file. Tell the user to
use Export HTML for a self-contained edited copy and Backup notes for a
portable JSON state. Warn that exported HTML may contain private annotations
and embedded screenshots.
