Writing Beats

Setup

1. Read raw markdown fully. This is exploit: the exploring is done, the pile is fixed — commit to a path through it and mine the pile to fill each beat.
2. If article output path missing, ask once.
3. Never edit raw material.
4. Re-read article before every write.
5. Establish prerequisites: what the audience already knows walking in. Everything else must be grounded by a beat before a later beat can use it.

Loop

1. Offer 2–3 starting beats from raw material.
2. Each candidate may only lean on grounded concepts; note what new concepts it grounds.
3. Preview likely next pivots each pick unlocks.
4. User picks.
5. Write only selected beat to article.
6. Re-read article.
7. Offer 2–3 reachable next beats from current ending and grounded set.
8. Loop until natural end.

Grounding

• Concept must be grounded before a beat can lean on it.
• Grounded = audience brought it as prerequisite, or earlier beat introduced it.
• Unit is concept, not word. A beat can lose the reader without jargon.
• Where a concept has a term, land idea + term together.
• Keep a running grounded list. Update after each beat.
• If a tempting beat needs ungrounded concept: add a grounding beat first, or promote concept to prerequisite with user agreement.

Rules

• Beat = one move: scene/point/question/aside/twist.
• Size to need: sentence, paragraph, or short vignette.
• If needs headings/5 paragraphs, split.
• Pull/paraphrase/split/merge raw fragments.
• Leave unused raw material.
• Rewrite/go back → edit specific beat; preserve rest.
• Append one beat at a time. Never write ahead.
