Execution Workflow
1. Determine the Scaling Stage
Assess the current state of the solution to identify the appropriate phase in the 0-1-10-100 Framework:
- 0 to 1 (Discovery): Finding the answer from nothing. This is the most creative step.
- 1 to 10 (Initial Action): Concrete start, securing early wins, and horizontal expansion. Critical for building momentum.
- 10 to 100 (Organizational Change): Expanding the proven success to the entire organization.
- 100+ (Embedding): Institutionalizing the cycle of evolution into the organization's DNA.
2. Select a Motivation Driver
Choose the primary driver to sustain organizational energy based on the context and duration of the change:
- Achievement: Use for short-term goals. Driven by the mindset "Because it is there." Requires clear, specific goals.
- Crisis: Use for urgent turnarounds (McKinsey approach). Creates urgency to force change (the "boiling frog" effect). Effective short-term (e.g., 3 months) but carries a high risk of relapse to comfort once the crisis subsides.
- Mission: Use for long-term transformation (Boston approach). Creates a shared purpose driven by "Why do we exist?" This is the most sustainable and persistent driver.
3. Apply Implementation Practices
Execute the following steps to bridge the gap between the goal and reality:
- Share a Common Goal: Ensure alignment across the organization on the primary objective.
- Clarify the Gap: Explicitly state the difference between the current reality and the desired goal.
- Dig into the Root Cause: Analyze why the gap was left unaddressed in the past.
