| description | Search Virginia ABC products and check live store inventory from the command line. |
vabc is a read-only CLI over Virginia ABC (the state liquor retail system): search the
product catalog, check live per-store and warehouse inventory, locate stores, and check
limited-availability ("lottery"/allocated) releases. No authentication is required.
--allow-mutations,
--dry-run, --yes, and --force flags exist for contract uniformity but are no-ops.--json (or --format json|plain|tsv) — JSON to stdout; human/progress notes to stderr.--limit N (default 50), --select a,b.c dot-path projection on list/object output.product search/get query the site's Coveo web catalog (full
coverage, current; includes new/online-only SKUs). Results carry the 6-digit inventory product
code, so a search hit feeds straight into inventory check.--near, store near) accept a 5-digit ZIP (offline centroid), a street
address (geocoded), or lat, lng. Distances are measured from that point.vabc product search <query> [--type T] [--allocated] # live web-catalog search
vabc product get <productCode> # one product (6-digit code, e.g. 010807)
vabc inventory check <code> --store <n> # live availability + nearby stores
vabc inventory check <code> --near 22182|"123 Main St, Vienna VA"|"38.91,-77.23" # nearest store, then check
vabc inventory warehouse <code> # statewide warehouse stock
vabc store list # all stores
vabc store get <storeNumber> # one store
vabc store near 22182|"123 Main St, Richmond VA"|"38.91,-77.23" # nearest stores (ZIP / address / lat, lng)
vabc lottery check <code> # limited-availability events
vabc auth status # always: no auth required
vabc doctor [--online] # diagnose setup (--online probes endpoints)
vabc schema --json # machine-readable command tree + exit codes
vabc agent # print this document
Recipes:
vabc --json inventory check 010807 --near 22182 | jq '.store.quantity, .nearbyStores[].quantity'
vabc --json product search bourbon --allocated --select productCode, name
The inventory endpoints are undocumented and rate-unprotected by courtesy. A persistent
cross-process throttle/circuit-breaker keeps a fresh-process-per-call agent polite. On a block,
live calls fail fast (exit 7) with a retry hint; pass --wait (and --max-wait) to wait it
out. Never circumvent a block — treat a persistent one as a stop signal.
0 ok · 1 generic · 2 usage · 3 empty · 5 not found (unknown code / store) ·
7 rate limited / WAF · 8 retryable/transient · 10 config ·
13 input required (--no-input) · 130 cancelled.
Errors are JSON on stderr under --json: { "error", "code", "remediation" }.

codes (a bogus code returns quantity 0); confirm a code exists via product get first.lottery check event-link titles are fenced with ⟦UNTRUSTED⟧ … ⟦/UNTRUSTED⟧ markers by
