Trigger when the user says things like "write the brief", "define the design direction", "build the design system", "update the brief", "add a new component to the spec", or "incorporate these changes." Always use this skill when design brief or system spec artifacts are the output. When the user lacks an opinion on a specific dimension, offer to choose, cite reasoning, and name alternatives considered — teach as you write.

Produces a Discovery Brief that design-author ingests as its primary input. Use this skill before design-author on any new engagement, especially when the user can't yet describe their direction in specific terms. Trigger when the user says things like "help me figure out what I want", "I know I want it to look like X but I don't know how to say that", "we need design direction before building", "audit our current design", or "I have no design background and I'm about to open Claude Design." Skip this skill if the user already has a rich design brief and wants to go straight to authoring edits or encoding for Claude Design.

Translate the Design Brief and Design System Spec into operational artifacts for Claude Design (and other AI design tools). Produces claude-design-config.md (paste-ready system prompt + explicit default overrides + inputs manifest + first-prompt template) and design-instructions.md (how-to-use companion). This is the only skill authorized to write to the Encoding layer. Trigger when the user says things like "encode for Claude Design", "generate the Claude Design config", "give me the system prompt", "I'm about to open Claude Design — get me ready", or after design-author has produced or updated the brief. Skip this skill if no Definition-layer artifacts exist — run design-discover and design-author first.
