Convert — Behave

Converts Behave (Python BDD) suites to any supported target, and emits Behave from any source.

When to use

Trigger when:

• behave in requirements.txt / Pipfile / pyproject.toml / setup.py dependencies.
• features/ directory with .feature files and features/steps/*.py.
• features/environment.py file present.
• behave.ini / setup.cfg [behave] / pyproject.toml [tool.behave].
• Python files with @given(...), @when(...), @then(...), @step(...) decorators imported from behave.
• from behave import given, when, then, step imports.
• Usage of context.browser, context.driver, context.page state-sharing.

How to use

1. Read the master orchestrator first.
2. Read this skill's reference files: source-profile.md, extraction.md, mappings.md.
3. Read target primer for your target.
4. Emit per target Emission Checklist.

Scope

• Behave 1.2.x (current) and 1.3.x.
• Gherkin .feature files (Cucumber-compatible subset).
• Step definitions in features/steps/*.py with decorators from behave.
• environment.py hooks: before_all, before_feature, before_rule, before_scenario, before_step, before_tag, after_* counterparts.
• Step parser types: parse (default), cfparse (extended), re (regex).
• Custom type registration via register_type.
• Tag expressions (--tags @foo, @foo and not @bar).
• userdata access (context.config.userdata).
• @fixture decorator + use_fixture(context, fixture) pattern.
• Scenario Outlines with Examples: tables.
• Table and text arguments on steps.
• behave-django / behave-pytest integrations (forward-compatible).
• Common drivers used in step bodies: Selenium Python bindings, Playwright for Python, Requests, HTTPx.

Out of scope

• pytest-bdd — use the pytest-bdd source skill (separate).
• Lettuce (older Python BDD) — use the lettuce source skill.
• Radish (alternative Python BDD) — flag; close to Behave, handle per-case.
• Behave's HTML / JSON formatters (output format only; not relevant to canonical).
• parse_type cfparse cardinality ({values:Type+}) with complex Python types — preserve as metadata, flag.
