Ad Script Writing — Curiosity-Loop Framework
The 5-Beat Curiosity Architecture
Every effective short-form ad follows this structure:
1. Hook (0-3s) — Pattern Interrupt + Information Gap
- Make a specific, counterintuitive claim with a number
- Withhold the HOW — viewer must keep watching
- Must work in 1.5 seconds (first sentence alone stops the scroll)
- Examples: "This one change increased [metric] by 40%", "Most people get [topic] completely wrong"
2. Support (3-7s) — Direction Reveal
- Widen the curiosity gap by revealing the direction but not the answer
- Example: reveal it's about "timing" but not the exact protocol
3. Science/Authority (7-11s) — Credibility
- Cite a real study, statistic, or authority figure
- Keep the loop open — validate the claim without giving the full playbook
4. Bridge (11-17s) — Personal Story → Product
- "After deep research, I created [product] to solve this"
- Position the product as the ONLY way to fully resolve the curiosity loop
5. CTA (17-20s) — Single Action
- One clear action: "Comment [KEYWORD]", "Link in bio", "Download now"
- Clean, direct, no multiple options
Hook Formulas (Proven Patterns)
- Counter-Intuitive Claim: "[Thing everyone believes] is actually [opposite]"
- Shocking Number: "[Number]% of people don't know [surprising fact]"
- Challenge: "I bet you can't [simple-sounding task]"
- Time-Bound: "In the next [X] seconds, I'll show you [valuable thing]"
- Social Proof: "[Authority/study] just confirmed [interesting finding]"
- Curiosity Gap: "There's one thing about [topic] nobody talks about"
- Before/After: "I went from [bad state] to [good state] with one change"
Key Principles
- Never resolve the loop in the video — the product is the resolution
- Positive framing over negative: "unlock" beats "you're wasting"
- Specificity = credibility: real numbers and sources signal depth
- Each beat widens before narrowing — not a linear dump
- Ad policy compliance: avoid medical claims, before/after imagery
