| description | Sandler Selling System skill for pressure-free sales using the Submarine, upfront contracts, pain, budget, decision, fulfillment, post-sell, dummying up, reversing, and Negative Reverse Selling.
Use when planning sales calls, discovery, qualification, budget conversations, decision-process questions, demos, post-sell checks, or handling objections like "think it over," "send me info," price resistance, vague interest, stalls, ghosting, and buyer's remorse.
Use for Sandler roleplay where the user wants to practice as seller, have the agent demonstrate as seller, simulate a skeptical prospect, switch roles, drill reverses, or get call feedback.
For problem-centric B2B diagnosis, see gap-selling. For commercial insight/status quo reframes, see challenger-sale. For indecision after intent, see jolt-effect.

Sandler Selling System
The Sandler system keeps the seller out of the prospect's system. Use the Submarine: seal each compartment before moving forward, keep pressure low, and let the prospect discover, qualify, and close.
Core Principle
Do not pitch your way into control. Use contracts and questions to make the prospect's truth visible: pain, money, decision, then fulfillment. If pain, budget, or decision is missing, do not present as if the deal is qualified.
Run Sequence
- Choose the branch. Classify the request as call plan, deal diagnosis, script/objection, roleplay, or drill. Completion: the answer follows that branch rather than generic sales advice.
- Locate the Submarine compartment. Identify the current stage: bonding, contract, pain, budget, decision, fulfillment, or post-sell. Completion: name the compartment and whether it is sealed, leaky, or skipped.
- Protect the seller's I/R. Treat rejection, stalls, and awkward money/decision talk as role feedback, not identity threat. Completion: the response stays calm, adult, and non-needy.
- Use questions before claims. Prefer dummying up, reversing, and upfront contracts before explanation or persuasion. Completion: no pitch appears before pain, budget, and decision are accounted for.
- Advance by contract. End with a clear yes, no, or next contract; avoid mutual mystification. Completion: next step states who does what by when and what happens after.
Branches
Sales call plan
Load references/submarine.md. Build a call plan through bonding -> upfront contract -> pain -> budget -> decision -> fulfillment -> post-sell. Completion: include exact opening contract, pain path, budget question, decision questions, and exit criteria.
Deal diagnosis / pipeline coaching
Load references/deal-diagnosis.md. Audit where the Submarine leaked. Completion: return current compartment, missing truth, risk, recovery reverse, and qualify-in/out recommendation.
Scripts, objections, and stalls
Load references/scripts.md and, when needed, references/techniques.md. Respond with Sandler-style language: softener, reverse, contract, or post-sell. Completion: script lowers pressure and clarifies truth instead of arguing.
Roleplay
Load references/roleplay.md. Run prospect-simulation, seller-demo, switch-role, coach, or drill mode. Completion: stay in the chosen role until the user says pause, feedback, switch, or debrief.
Technique drill
Load references/techniques.md. Drill one move: dummy up, reversing, Negative Reverse, budget bracketing, decision qualification, thermometer, or post-sell. Completion: give reps, score each rep, and correct one behavior at a time.

Common Mistakes
| Mistake | Why It Fails | Fix |
|---|
| Pitching before pain | Creates unpaid consulting. | Dummy up and reverse into pain. |
| Weak upfront contract | Leaves the prospect's system in control. | Contract time, agenda, yes/no, and next step. |
| Avoiding money | Lets price ambush the close. | Ask budget in round numbers after pain. |
| Accepting “think it over” | Creates pressure and ghosting. | Qualify decision before fulfillment. |
| Over-presenting | Adds irrelevant seagulls to the prospect's picture. | Fulfill only agreed pain. |
| Leaving after the signature | Lets buyer's remorse work alone. | Post-sell before leaving. |
