Narrative Crafter

Guides the user from raw idea to a polished narrative document ready for the slide pipeline.

When This Activates

• User wants to create a presentation but doesn't have a narrative yet
• User has bullet points or rough notes that need shaping into a story
• The deck-designer pipeline needs narrative input and none exists
• User says "help me write a narrative" or "I need to present about [topic]"

How to Execute

1. Load the Agent

Read agents/narrative-crafter.md for the full persona and methodology.

2. Run the Discovery Phase

Ask the three discovery questions (don't dump them all at once — conversational flow):

1. What's the core idea? (one sentence)
2. Who's the audience?
3. What's the desired outcome?

3. Run the Story Architecture Phase

Based on discovery, ask:

1. What's the problem or tension?
2. Why hasn't it been solved?
3. What's your insight or model?
4. What's the evidence?

4. Draft the Narrative

Write 500-1500 words of prose narrative. Structure:

• Open with problem/tension
• Build through context and evidence
• Present the insight/model
• Show proof
• Close with implication/call to action

5. Review and Iterate

Share the draft. Ask:

• "Does this capture what you're trying to say?"
• "Anything missing or off?"
• "Any specific examples or data you want included?"

Iterate until the user is satisfied.

6. Save and Hand Off

Save the narrative as output/deck-[name]-narrative.md.

If the user wants to continue to slides, hand off to the deck-designer skill.

Tips

• Don't rush through discovery. The quality of the narrative depends on understanding the idea.
• Push back on vague answers. "We need to talk about AI" → "What specifically about AI, for whom, and to what end?"
• Use the user's own language. You're shaping their thinking, not replacing it.
• Shorter is almost always better. A tight 600-word narrative beats a meandering 1500-word one.
