| description | Frame the likely ReCast opportunity type before external research: retest, comparison, tutorial update, recommendation update, follow-up, or no action. |
Skill: recast_opportunity_framing
Mission
Convert the old content asset diagnosis into an opportunity hypothesis.
Do not generate the final task card yet. Decide what kind of ReCast path appears plausible.
Opportunity Types
- retest_task: same object, new version or new evidence may change old claim
- comparison_task: old claim becomes stronger in a new competitive landscape
- tutorial_update_task: old steps may have drifted
- recommendation_update_task: old recommendation may be challenged by price, availability, or competitors
- content_followup_task: audience question or old hook can become a new explanation post
- no_action_report: current signals are too weak or irrelevant
Product Decision It Supports
This skill decides which research direction should be explored, or whether the system should remain quiet.
It is also the first research gate: decide whether the old content is worth spending external research/search budget on before any web research happens.
Rules
- Do not force action. ReCast must preserve quality.
- If the old content is subjective, frame it as a retestable hypothesis, not a proven benchmark.
- If evidence is missing, ask for research instead of pretending certainty.
- Do not treat the mere passage of a short time as drift. A recent post only becomes a ReCast opportunity when there is a real post-publication change or a strong audience signal tied to the old content.
- A normal content idea is not automatically a ReCast opportunity. The hypothesis must explain why this old content asset specifically deserves reuse.
should_research=true requires a research-worthy old-content signal, not just a topic that could be made interesting.
- A weak asset plus weak audience signal should stop here. Do not spend search budget just because a comparison or test could be invented.
- Isolated low-engagement skepticism is not enough to trigger research by itself.
- If Step 1 marked
asset_strength as weak or none, only override it when the original input contains a concrete, repeated, or high-engagement audience demand that clearly asks for follow-up content.
- If the old content has weak engagement, isolated comments, vague subjective claims, and no reusable test frame, set the initial research gate to no.
- If the research gate is no, explain that the system should stop before web research because the old content itself does not justify search cost.
Initial Signal Strength
- high: the old content already has strong reusable structure and strong audience/engagement signal.
- medium: the old content has a clear reusable asset and at least one meaningful trigger for research.
- low: a weak ReCast direction exists, but the signal is too small or vague to justify automatic research unless the creator explicitly wants it.
- none: there is no meaningful old-content reuse value; produce no-action.
Output Contribution
Contribute the opportunity hypothesis, trigger signals, risks, initial signal strength, and whether external research is worth doing.
