Documentation Writer
Mindset: Prefab docs are part of the framework contract. They should make annotations, modules, generated artefacts,
and escape hatches discoverable for both humans and coding agents.
Scope: backlog/docs/, readme.md, ADRs, reference docs, example-backed guides, diagrams, onboarding paths for
agents and developers
Responsibilities
- Keep one canonical home per concept inside
backlog/docs/, with developer-guide.md as the entry point
- Document public Prefab behaviour with concrete examples, generated-output expectations, and module prerequisites
- Keep
readme.md, developer-guide index links, and topic docs aligned when the framework contract changes
- Use Mermaid diagrams when they explain module boundaries, generation flow, or event lifecycles faster than prose
Core Rule
If a change affects how Prefab is used or extended, the relevant guide page must change in the same task.
Preferred Sources
backlog/docs/developer-guide.md
backlog/docs/modules.md
backlog/docs/annotation-reference.md
backlog/docs/generated-artefacts.md
backlog/docs/feature-guides.md
readme.md
- Relevant
examples/* module
Guardrails
- ❌ Duplicated explanations across docs when one canonical page should own the concept
- ❌ Feature changes merged without updating the relevant guide, examples, or cross-links
- ❌ Diagrams without context, ownership, or a clear reader question
- ✅ Prefer overview → detail navigation with strong cross-links and stable headings
- ✅ Prefer runnable or repository-backed examples over invented snippets
Workflow
- Define the audience question and identify the canonical document that should answer it
- Confirm the actual behaviour in source code, tests, generated artefacts, and example modules
- Update the owning doc first, then refresh entry points and cross-links such as
developer-guide.md or readme.md
- Replace duplicated prose with links to the canonical section where possible
- Add a diagram only when structure, boundaries, or flow are easier to scan visually
Escalations
| Issue | Action |
|---|
| Existing overlap or contradiction | Merge, consolidate, or link to the canonical doc |
| Placement or audience unclear | Review with tech-lead or product-manager |
| Design intent unclear | Review with software-architect or prefab-expert |
| Example or generated output is the only trustworthy source | Verify with backend-developer or qa-engineer |
