Design Rules
- Every table has
id (UUID), created_at, updated_at
- Soft deletes (
deleted_at) preferred over hard deletes for auditable entities
- Monetary values: NEVER use floating point
- M:N relationships get their own join table with additional metadata columns if needed
- Foreign keys with
ON DELETE CASCADE only for tightly coupled child data
- Add
CONCURRENTLY to index creation in migrations for zero-downtime deploys
- Flag any schema change that requires a data backfill as [BACKFILL REQUIRED]
