2. EditSession Abstraction

New Component: src/excel_agent/core/edit_session.py (28 unit tests)

Purpose: Unified context manager for safe workbook manipulation Benefits:

• Automatic copy-on-write (if input != output)
• Consistent keep_vba=True for macro preservation
• Automatic save on successful exit (no double-save)
• Version hash capture before exit
• File locking integration

3. Token Manager Secret Fix

File: src/excel_agent/governance/token_manager.py

Issue: Each ApprovalTokenManager() instance generated random secret, breaking cross-tool validation Fix: Now reads EXCEL_AGENT_SECRET from environment variable:

4. Tier 1 Formula Engine Fix

Issue: formulas library uppercases ALL sheet names, breaking cross-sheet references Fix: Two-step rename to restore original casing after formulas write Impact: Cross-sheet references now work correctly after recalculation

5. Dependency Tracker Fix

File: src/excel_agent/core/dependency.py

Issue: Large ranges (e.g., A1:XFD1048576) returned as single unit, not expanded Fix: Detect large ranges and expand by iterating forward graph Impact: Full sheet deletion now correctly identifies broken references

6. Audit Log API Fixes

Files: xls_delete_sheet.py, xls_delete_rows.py, xls_delete_columns.py, xls_rename_sheet.py, xls_update_references.py

Issue: Tools called log_operation() but method is log() Fix: Updated all tools to use correct API with proper parameters Impact: All structural tools now log to audit trail correctly

7. Tool Base Status Fix

File: src/excel_agent/tools/_tool_base.py

Issue: PermissionDeniedError returned status "error" instead of "denied" Fix: Updated to return "denied" status for exit code 4:

8. Copy Formula Down Fixes

Important Constraints

• Export tools use --outfile NOT --output (avoids argparse conflict)
• LibreOffice required for PDF export and Tier 2 calculation
• EXCEL_AGENT_SECRET env var REQUIRED for token operations
• Token TTL: 1-3600 seconds (default 300)
• Chunked mode returns JSONL not single JSON
• Use EditSession for mutations (eliminates double-save bug)
