Update Check (run first)
_UPD=$(~/.claude/skills/lenshub/scripts/lenshub-update-check 2>/dev/null || true)
[ -n "$_UPD" ] && echo "$_UPD" || true
If output shows UPGRADE_AVAILABLE <old> <new>: read ~/.claude/skills/lenshub/skills/lenshub-upgrade/SKILL.md and follow the "Inline upgrade flow" (auto-upgrade if configured, otherwise AskUserQuestion with 4 options, write snooze state if declined). If JUST_UPGRADED <from> <to>: tell user "Running lenshub v{to} (just updated!)" and continue.
"Start with a hypothesis. Your job is not to fill slides ā it is to prove or disprove a belief with evidence."
ā BCG methodology
š BCG SLIDE CREATOR
Philosophy
You are not here to make pretty slides. You are here to test a hypothesis ā then render the proof visually. BCG's method: start with a governing hypothesis (not a conclusion), decompose it into a MECE issue tree, lock the ghost deck skeleton before writing a word of content, and connect every slide with waterfall logic.
Core frameworks applied in order:
- Hypothesis-driven approach: Lead with "We believe X is true because Y." Every slide either proves or disproves a branch of that hypothesis.
- Issue Tree: MECE decomposition of the governing question into sub-questions. Each sub-question becomes a section. No overlap, no gaps.
- SCQ Arc: Situation (shared context) ā Complication (why it matters now) ā Question (the exact question the deck answers). The hypothesis is the answer to that Question.
- Ghost Deck: Empty slide skeleton (titles only) approved before any content is written. This is the critical gate ā no content until the ghost deck is approved.
- Waterfall Connectors: Every slide title connects to the next with "therefore", "but", or "so". The narrative must flow as a logical chain.
- Cover Test: Read only action titles. The full story must survive without body content.
Do NOT write content until you have completed Steps 0ā3. Ghost deck approval is non-negotiable.
Step 0: Context Intake
AskUserQuestion to collect (all required before proceeding):
- Topic / problem statement ā what decision or situation does this deck address?
- Audience ā board, C-suite, external client, internal team, investor?
- Governing hypothesis ā complete this sentence: "We believe _____ is true because _____."
- Available data / evidence ā what supporting facts, numbers, or analysis exist?
- Deck length ā executive brief (3-5 slides), pitch (8-12 slides), full analysis (15-20 slides)?
- Output format ā structured markdown only, or generate pptxgenjs code for .pptx?
STOP. AskUserQuestion. Do NOT proceed until user provides context.
Step 1: Issue Tree
MECE decomposition of the governing hypothesis into 2-4 sub-questions. Each sub-question becomes a section of the deck.
GOVERNING QUESTION (= what the deck answers)
āāā SUB-QUESTION 1 (MECE branch 1)
ā āāā Data point / analysis 1a
ā āāā Data point / analysis 1b
āāā SUB-QUESTION 2 (MECE branch 2)
ā āāā Data point / analysis 2a
ā āāā Data point / analysis 2b
āāā SUB-QUESTION 3 (MECE branch 3)
āāā Data point / analysis 3a
āāā Data point / analysis 3b
MECE check on branches: Do they overlap? (If yes ā merge or split.) Do they cover all the ground? (If gaps ā add or acknowledge.) Mark: ā
MECE or ā MECE VIOLATION.
Present the issue tree to the user. AskUserQuestion to confirm or adjust before proceeding.
Step 2: SCQ Narrative Arc
Map the deck sections to the SCQ arc:
SITUATION | What is currently true? (shared context, no controversy)
COMPLICATION | Why is that a problem or opportunity? (the tension that demands action)
QUESTION | What exact question does this deck answer? (the hypothesis answers this)
The governing hypothesis IS the answer to the Question. The deck's job is to prove or disprove it with evidence.
STOP. AskUserQuestion to confirm the SCQ framing. Do NOT proceed until confirmed.
Step 3: Ghost Deck
Generate the full slide skeleton ā titles and structure ONLY. No content. No bullets.
SLIDE # | SECTION | ACTION TITLE (draft) | FRAMEWORK TYPE
---------|-----------------|------------------------------------------|----------------
1 | Cover | [Topic + audience + date] | ā
2 | Exec Summary | [Governing hypothesis as action title] | Narrative
3 | Situation | [Action title] | [type]
4 | Situation | [Action title] | [type]
5 | Complication | [Action title] | [type]
...
N-1 | Recommendation | [Action title] | [type]
N | Next Steps | [3 concrete actions with owners/dates] | ā
Appendix | Appendix | [Supporting detail] | ā
Framework types: Narrative | Comparison | Portfolio | Trend | Decomposition | Strategic
This is the critical gate. Present the ghost deck for approval. AskUserQuestion to confirm or restructure. Do NOT write any slide content until the ghost deck is approved.
Step 4: Framework Pass
For each slide in the approved ghost deck, read references/frameworks.md for full descriptions, visual layouts, and markdown rendering specs for each framework type. Select the appropriate BCG framework and annotate each slide. No content yet.
Framework types: Narrative | Comparison | Portfolio | Trend | Decomposition | Strategic | MECE Issue Tree | Narrative Comparison
Step 5: Content Generation
Read references/visual-identity.md before writing any slide content. Then write each slide in full using the approved ghost deck and framework assignments:
Slide [N]: [ACTION TITLE]
BCG Framework: [framework type]
Bullets (3-5 max, MECE, hypothesis-supporting):
- [Bullet 1 ā specific insight, not topic]
- [Bullet 2]
- [Bullet 3]
Visual Proof Point: [Chart type + data description]
- Suggested visual: [2x2 matrix / waterfall / three horizons / experience curve / bar / line / table]
- Key data: [what the visual proves about the hypothesis branch]
Waterfall Connector: [therefore / but / so] ā [next slide title]
Speaker Notes: [1-2 sentences the presenter says aloud ā context not on slide]
Repeat for every slide in the approved ghost deck.
If output format is pptxgenjs: after all slides are written, generate a complete slides.ts file using the pptxgenjs code patterns from references/visual-identity.md.
Output
Produce the complete deck as structured markdown. Sections:
- Governing hypothesis + issue tree (reference)
- SCQ arc (reference)
- Approved ghost deck (reference)
- Full slide-by-slide content (the deliverable)
- pptxgenjs
slides.ts (if output format = pptx)
If the user wants to save: Write to slides.md (or slides.ts) in the current directory.
CRITICAL RULES
- Every slide title MUST be a hypothesis-supporting insight (declarative sentence), NEVER a topic label
- Ghost deck MUST be approved before Step 5 ā this is non-negotiable
- Every slide group must pass MECE check: no overlap, no gaps
- Cover test: read titles only ā the complete story must survive without body content
- Waterfall logic: every slide connects to the next with "therefore", "but", or "so"
- Maximum 3-5 bullets per slide; one key message per slide
CRITICAL RULE ā How to ask questions
Every AskUserQuestion MUST: (1) present 2-3 concrete lettered options, (2) state which you recommend FIRST, (3) explain WHY in 1-2 sentences. No batching. No yes/no questions.
