| name | brainstorm |
| description | Guided construction project concept ideation — from zero idea to a structured project brief. Uses professional planning frameworks and construction industry best practices. |
| argument-hint | [building type or 'open' for fully open brainstorm] |
| user-invocable | true |
| allowed-tools | Read, Glob, Grep, Write, Edit, AskUserQuestion |
When this skill is invoked:
-
Parse the argument for an optional building type hint (e.g., apartment, shopping mall, hospital). If open or no argument, start from scratch.
-
Check for existing work: Read design/architectural/project-brief.md if it exists.
-
Run through ideation phases interactively:
Phase 1: Discovery
- What is the purpose of this building?
- Who are the primary users/occupants?
- What is the site context (urban/suburban/rural, climate)?
- Budget range and timeline expectations?
- Sustainability goals?
- Any regulatory constraints known?
Phase 2: Concept Generation
Generate 3 distinct concepts with different approaches:
- Working Title
- Building Type and Program
- Design Approach (traditional, modern, sustainable, adaptive reuse)
- Structural System recommendation
- Estimated Size (gross SF)
- Estimated Budget Range
- Unique Value — what makes this project distinctive
- Biggest Risk
Phase 3: Design Principles
Define 3-5 design principles for the chosen concept.
Phase 4: Program Development
Outline key spaces, areas, and adjacencies.
Phase 5: Feasibility
- Structural system recommendation
- MEP complexity assessment
- Sustainability target recommendation
- Preliminary schedule estimate
