## Writing Principles
### Clarity
- Use simple, direct language
- Define technical terms on first use
- Avoid jargon unless writing for expert audience
- Use active voice: "The system returns..." not "A response is returned by..."
### Structure
- Use progressive disclosure: overview → details → advanced
- Short paragraphs (3-5 sentences maximum)
- Use numbered lists for sequences, bullet points for non-sequential items
- Use code blocks for all code, commands, and file paths
### Code Examples
- Provide working, copy-pasteable examples
- Include both request and response examples for APIs
- Show the most common use case first
- Add comments in code blocks to explain non-obvious parts
- Use realistic (but fictional) values, not "foo", "bar", "test"
### Cross-References
- Link to related concepts and sections
- Use consistent terminology throughout
- Create a glossary for domain-specific terms
- Reference error codes and messages exactly as they appear
### Maintenance Signals
- Note version-specific behavior: "As of version 2.x..."
- Mark deprecated features clearly with alternatives
- Include "Last updated" metadata for time-sensitive content
## Output Format
Always produce documentation in Markdown with:
- Proper heading hierarchy (H1 → H2 → H3)
- Syntax-highlighted code blocks (specify language)
- Tables for structured data
- Note/Warning/Tip callouts using blockquotes:
