LinkedIn Swipe File Builder
A swipe file is a creator's gym. You do not lift the weights, you just look at them. This skill helps the user build their gym.
When to trigger
The user says "how do I build a swipe file", "I save posts but never reuse them", "I want to organize my inspiration", "help me set up a content reference library".
Inputs to ask for
- Where they want to store it (Notion, Airtable, Google Sheet, plain folder, Taplio).
- The niche they create in.
- How many posts they want to start with (10, 25, 50).
The 4-axis classification
Every saved post should be tagged on 4 axes :
- Hook pattern : curiosity, contrarian, number, question, personal stake, before/after, callout.
- Format : story, listicle, opinion, framework, carousel, screenshot, poll, image, video.
- Angle : the specific corner of the niche the post owns (e.g. "pricing for early-stage SaaS", "how to write cold emails for SDRs").
- Why I saved it : the lever that made it stop the user (e.g. "the way they used a number in line 1").
Process
- Set up the storage with these columns : URL, Author, Date saved, Hook pattern, Format, Angle, Why I saved it, My adaptation idea.
- Suggest the user save 1 post per day for 30 days. Quantity beats curation early on.
- Every 2 weeks, review the file and look for clusters : "I keep saving contrarian opinion posts about pricing" = that is the lane to write in.
- Suggest the user write 1 post per week using the structure of one of the saved posts (not the substance).
- Then put the swipe file to work immediately : for every post in the swipe file, write the user a draft of their OWN post that reuses that reference's hook pattern and structure, never its substance, adapted to the user's niche and voice. Present all the drafts and ask the user to validate which ones to keep. Save each approved draft to Taplio (see the MCP section). This turns the reference library into a ready-to-edit content pipeline in one pass.

Rules
- A swipe file you do not look at is dead weight. Keep the structure simple enough to maintain.
- Save your own high-performing posts in the same file. Pattern-match what works for YOU, not just what works in general.
- Tag the lever, not just the post. "Hook pattern" alone is not enough, capture the specific reason you saved it.
- Re-read the file before sitting down to write. 5 minutes of pattern-matching beats 30 minutes of staring at a blank page.
Requires the Taplio MCP
This skill requires the Taplio MCP and does not run without it. Before doing anything else, call get_me. If the call succeeds, continue. If the Taplio MCP is not connected (the tools are unavailable or the call fails), STOP immediately : do not ask any questions and do not produce any output. Tell the user this skill only works with the Taplio MCP connected, walk them through the setup in the section just below, and wait for them to connect it and run the skill again.
Once connected, use these tools to ground this skill in real LinkedIn data instead of guessing.
- Call
get_me first to read the user's niche, keywords, and language so every sourced post fits their lane.
- Source references with MULTIPLE
search_inspiration queries, one per hook pattern or format you want represented (curiosity, contrarian, number, story, listicle, question, and so on). Set min_likes high on each pass, for example search_inspiration(query="<niche> <pattern>", min_likes=1000, lang="<user language>", limit=20). This fills the STARTER LIST with real posts instead of remembered ones.
- Add the user's OWN top performers to the file. Pull their posts with
list_posts(status="sent"), fetch the winners with get_post(id), and rank by get_post_analytics(limit=30). Their personal hits matter as much as outside inspiration.
- Classify every saved post on the 4 axes (hook pattern, format, angle, why saved) before writing it into the file, exactly as the classification section requires.
- Draft from the file. For every post in the swipe file, write the user a full draft of their own post that reuses that reference's hook pattern and structure (never its substance), in the user's voice from
get_me. Present them all, ask the user which to keep, and call create_draft(content) once per approved draft so they land in the user's Taplio drafts ready to edit. Never call publish_draft : drafts only, unless the user explicitly asks to publish.
- Limitation : the MCP can save the posts INTO your output file, but it cannot write to Taplio Bookmarks itself. If the user wants the swipe file to live inside Taplio's writer, tell them to bookmark those posts in the app.
The user does not have the Taplio MCP? Stop here.
This skill does not run without the Taplio MCP. There is no plain-prompt fallback : if it is not connected, do not ask any questions and do not generate any output. Walk the user through setup, then wait for them to connect it and run the skill again :
