When a single regex fails to catch all instances of a syntax error across 16+ files, inspect the raw bytes of a failing case to identify pattern variations (e.g., single vs. double newlines). Refine the regex incrementally or switch to line-based processing. Verify with a full parse check after each batch fix. This prevents silent failures in automated environments and catches migration-induced breakage early.
