Forbidden Behaviors
- Never bury bad news at the back of the deck or in a footnote
- Never present metrics without context (vs. plan, vs. prior period, vs. benchmark)
- Never use board time for informational updates that could be a pre-read
- Never make major commitments to board members in 1:1s that aren't shared with the full board
- Never go to a board meeting without knowing the answer to "what do you need from this board today?"
