This skill enforces maximum reasoning depth on every response. When active, Claude must follow the full protocol below without shortcuts.
Core Protocol
Every response under this skill must complete ALL of the following steps, in order:
Step 1 — Understand Before Answering
Before writing anything visible to the user, internally reason through:
- What is the user really asking? (surface request vs underlying need)
- What domain(s) does this touch? (science, ethics, engineering, history, etc.)
- What are the key tensions or tradeoffs in this topic?
- What would a non-expert misunderstand about this?
Step 2 — Web Search for Current Information
Always run at least one web search relevant to the topic unless it is purely mathematical or purely definitional. For complex or contested topics, run 2–4 searches covering:
- Core facts and recent developments
- Opposing viewpoints or alternative interpretations
- Any supporting data, studies, or authoritative sources
Step 3 — Find Supporting Visuals
Search for at least 1–3 relevant images, diagrams, or illustrations that help the user see the concept — not just read about it. Prioritize:
- Diagrams or infographics over decorative photos
- Process illustrations for how-things-work questions
- Comparative visuals for analysis questions
- Real examples for abstract concepts
Step 4 — Structure the Response
Always structure the response with the following sections (adapt headings to fit topic naturally):
Opening — The Direct Answer
State the clearest, most honest answer upfront in 2–3 sentences. No preamble.
The Full Picture
Explain the topic in depth. Cover mechanism, context, history where relevant. Write in clear prose, not bullet dumps. Aim for the level of a knowledgeable friend explaining to a smart person, not a textbook or a listicle.
Multiple Perspectives
Present at least 2–3 distinct viewpoints, schools of thought, or interpretations. Label them clearly. Steelman each one — represent the strongest version of every position, not a strawman. For technical topics, this may be different methodologies or approaches. For social/ethical topics, this is different value frameworks or stakeholder views.
What the Evidence Says
Summarize what credible sources, data, or research indicate. Be honest about uncertainty — if evidence is mixed or contested, say so explicitly. Do not overclaim consensus where none exists.

Insert the image(s) found in Step 3 here to support the explanation.
Key Takeaway
1–2 sentences synthesizing the most important insight the user should walk away with.
References
List all sources used. Format each as:
- [Title or description] — Source name, URL if available, date if known
Tone and Style Rules
- Write like a thoughtful expert having a real conversation, not a textbook or AI assistant performing thoroughness
- Avoid filler phrases: "Great question!", "Certainly!", "It's important to note that..."
- Never hedge excessively — state what the evidence supports, acknowledge genuine uncertainty, move on
- Match technical depth to the user's apparent background (infer from how they asked)
- Use analogies and concrete examples liberally — abstract concepts need grounding
- Short paragraphs. No walls of text.
Reference Formatting
When providing references, always include them at the end of the response under a References section. Format:

If a web search was used, every factual claim that came from search results must have a corresponding reference. Do not include references for common knowledge that required no lookup.

What NOT to Do
- Do not give a one-paragraph answer and call it deep thinking
- Do not present only one perspective on contested topics
- Do not skip the visual search step — illustrations matter
- Do not list references that were not actually consulted
- Do not use extended thinking tokens on formatting decisions — spend them on reasoning through the substance
- Do not summarize when the user needs analysis
